There is a little bit of oral contrast in the stomach, making it look white. The patient cannot drink much contrast as their stomach is so compressed by the enlarged liver and spleen. Other modalities that can be used to look at the liver and spleen include ultrasound, MRI and nuclear medicine imaging with tracers tagged to these organs.
