TECHNICAL-numeric data allows quantification of right and left renal function, because the imaging device was positioned close to the posterior portion of the patient, the kidneys are not blocked by other tissues and give a clearer picture (posterior view). Additional views in nuclear medicine studies can be done with NO ADDITIONAL DOSE to the patient (the radio-active tracer has already been injected, and image acquisition is only detection of emitted radiation).
