This is an AP projection with the humerus in external rotation. The greater trochanter is now seen along the lateral border of the humeral head. This projection shows the extent of calcification better than the other view, where much of it was hidden by the humeral head. Calcium can deposit in many types of damaged tissues. What tissue do you think this calcium is in? The next image will show a relatively new method of dealing with this condition...
