Image A and C are from our patient and show collapse of the arch of the foot and severe malalignment of proximal foot bones.
Image B and D are normal comparisons, showing a normal arch.
On Images C and D, the calcaneus is outlined in red, the talus in purple and the navicular in aqua.
Notice in Image C that the talus is no longer articulating with the navicular at all, and this open space is what was evident on the oblique view as an abnormally wide appearing joint. The two articular surfaces that should be adjacent are outlined in yellow.
