The sesamoids of the foot are located in the two tendons of flexor hallicus brevis (which attaches nearby at the base of the proximal phalanx of the great toe), and are on either side of the single centrally located tendon of flexor hallicus longus, which passes between them to attach to the base of the distal phalanx of the great toe. |
