The shoulder is a very complex three-dimensional shape, so doing routine AP and lateral views is not very helpful. Instead, the standard views are a bit more complicated, and may include two or three views, depending on the clinical circumstance. If two views are done, both are AP in projection, as shown here. Try to determine what has changed between the two views (which are actually from two different patients).
