Imaging of women with pelvic pain who are in the reproductive age group
1. beta-HCG must be assessed to plan appropriate imaging!! Recommendations will differ depending on whether the patient is pregnant or not.
2. For most situations, ultrasound is the first imaging of choice. MR can be used if US is equivocal.
3. CT is only indicated in patients who have negative beta-HCG, or in potentially life-threatening situations where MR is not available!
