Angiography in ENT imaging:

1. CTA and MRA have replaced most of the previous indications for angiograpy in the neck, even for vascular tumors.

2. The advantage of angiography remains the ability to intervene, such as by placing coils to decrease vascular supply to a tumor.

3. Angiographic intervention may be palliative, therapeutic, or may be used to try to decrease bleeding during definitive surgical treatment.

4. Angiographic images may be displayed with either a black background or in an inverted greyscale (white background, dark appearance of contrast).

5. Angiographic images may have digital subtraction, to decrease background structures that do not move, such as bones of the skull or neck, to improve visibility of small vessels.
