Screening Mammography
Breast cancer mortality rate is decreasing due to the impact of screening mammography via diagnosis at an earlier stage of disease; Over 80% of cancers are identified on mammography, and screening mammography may detect cancer 1.5-4 years before it becomes clinically evident; 15% of breast cancers, however, are mammographically occult.
There is no upper age limit at which mammography should be stopped; Screening should be considered as long as the patient is in good health and is willing to undergo additional testing, including biopsy, if an abnormality is detected
