IMAGING AFTER BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
Mammography is generally not indicated to evaluate the side of a reconstruction after mastectomy, whether with tissue flaps or implants, as there is no breast tissue present to image. If there is a focal complaint, breast US is the best initial imaging modality, although imaging of scars can be confusing, as they have similar features to malignancies, with shadowing and spiculated margins. Breast MR can be added if needed to solve specific problems.
