49 year old female, chronic shortness of breath and PND, new central line placement
The left internal jugular central line has a sharp curve at it's end, which is not normal. This suggests that we are seeing the catheter moving toward or away from us on this frontal view. The blue oval is the azygos vein, seen end-on. This appearance suggests that the catheter is coiled in the azygos vein instead of going into the superior vena cava as it should be. This needs to be repositioned.
