This is a coronal proton density sequence without fat suppression.

Dense calcium, like cortical bone, tends to be dark on most MR sequences, as there is not much water or fat in these regions.

KEY to labels:

purple-deltoid muscle

yellow-calcifications in rotator cuff (also trapezius muscle)

aqua-infraspinatus and lateral head of triceps muscle

red-supraspinatus muscle

dark blue-long head of biceps tendon and long head of triceps tendon

orange-teres minor, short head of biceps and coracobrachialis

dark green-pectoralis minor muscle and teres major muscle
