This is used because when injected into the hepatic vein, it crosses the liver substance to delineate the portal vein, allowing planning of the course of the catheter across the liver to connect the two vascular systems. Note that these images have REVERSED grey scale from the usual for radiography. Dense areas are white instead of black. |
