Terms you will need when discussing images Terms for orientation: anterior-toward the front of the body posterior-toward the back of the body AP projection-image obtained by sending x-rays from Anterior to Posterior through the body note: you can also do a PA projection, back to front lateral projection-image obtained by sending x-rays from side to side through the body Terms for slices: coronal-slicing the body in a plane from front to back (or back to front) sagittal-slicing the body in a plane from left to right (or right to left) axial-slicing the body in a plane from top to bottom (or bottom to top) note: this can also be called 'horizontal' or 'transverse' plane |
