This image shows classic findings of cardiogenic edema on chest radiography:

 

1. enlarged cardiac silhouette (more than half the chest diameter)

2. enlarged vessels in the hila, particularly to the upper lobes (where vessels are normally quite thin)

3. thickening of interstitial elements of the lung, presenting as criss-crossing lines (particularly in the outermost lungs, where no markings should normally be seen)

4. diffuse haziness of the lungs, worst in the lower lobes (where gravity will tend to cause fluid to collect)
