There is only one kidney (outlined in yellow) on the left, which appears larger than normal. When only one kidney is present from birth, it increases in size (called 'hypertrophy'). Since the kidney and female genital tract arise from related embryologic precursors, it is common to see abnormalities of the uterus in association with abnormalities of the kidney. The uterus in this patient (outlined in light blue) appears small and off to one side, rather than central in location.
