Tumors in the pancreas can be derived from exocrine or endocrine cells of the islets or pleuripotential stem cells in the ducts, and can secrete hormones like insulin, glucagon, VIP or be nonfunctional. While these tumors can be well demonstrated on CT, sometimes MR gives additional characterization of their internal structure. They may not always be well seen on ultrasound, particularly if they are small.
