What is the clinical significance of fat stranding? Fat stranding is NOT specific for a particular diagnosis, and can be seen in infection, fibrosis, hemorrhage, or tumor infiltration. What is shown in blue and brown on this image? The blue structures are iliac vessels and the brown area is the left psoas muscle. Did the patient receive IV or oral contrast for the study? NO IV contrast, because the vessels and muscle are similar in density. They DID get oral contrast, as there is white material in many of the bowel loops. |
