Integrated Problems Radiology: Right Upper Quadrant Pain |
||
68 year old female presents with right upper quadrant pain.
For each case, consider the following: 1. What imaging study (if any) would you order? abdominal US-this is most often the first study to order in this clinical setting 2. What clinical information would you give to the radiologist who will be doing the study? it would be important to tell the radiologist about any systemic illnesses, and whether the patient has elevated WBC count, Murphy's sign, or other symptoms. 3. Do you need to discuss anything with the radiologist before ordering the exam? probably not, as long as the clinical history is clear. |
