Case 2: pleural abnormalities

This contour of the apparent right diaphragm is a strange shape, with a peak that is more lateral than usual, and medial depression.  This finding is often seen when fluid collects below the lung, rather than creeping up the lateral chest wall.  This configuration is called a subpulmonic effusion. It can be a transient phenomenon and may not be present on follouwp images. Click ‘more images’ for comparison to a more typical pleural effusion appearance.
