There is a subtle c-shaped area of calcification (yellow) in the region of the cardiac apex, corresponding to the the apical portion of the left ventricle.  This is typical of an aneurysm from prior myocardial infarction.  An aneurysm occurs when there is enough damage to the myocardium that it loses its elasticity and balloons outward, often impairing function through loss of contractility.  What other type of imaging can be done to evaluate cardiac chambers and coronary arteries, particularly if intervention of some type is desired?
